Murray S. Levin and Lonnie (Jalond) LevinThis year, the Democratic Committee of Lower Merion and Narberth (DCLMN) honors Murray S. Levin and his wife Lonnie (Jalond) Levin. These two individuals have been active in both local and state Democratic politics. Murray served as the chairman of the DCMLN from 2002 through 2006. During this time, the local Democratic Party grew to be the dominant party in Lower Merion and took a majority of positions on both the Township Commission and the School Board. Additionally, he serves as the an area representative to the Montgomery County Democratic Committee. Lonnie is the founder and director of “The Philadelphia Weekend Film Festival”, which began in 1987. For twenty years, the Festival has presented retrospective programs featuring many accomplished film directors and actors. Lonnie has been an active member of the DCLMN, the Woman’s Caucus of the Pennsylvania State Committee and has chaired the statewide candidate debates for the State Democratic Committee. Lonnie and Murray have been married for 40 years and are the proud parents of two married daughters, Adrianne, a physician; and Alexandra, a registered nutritionist and author. They also have three grandchildren. The cultural community and the DCLMN have been fortunate to have benefitted from the energy, vision and commitment that these two individuals have brought to their areas of interest.
